Frequently Asked Questions

Your Yoga Journey, Clarified

Whether you're curious about our classes, teacher trainings, community events, retreats, or what makes Align Yoga Method unique, this page is here to guide you.

Find quick answers to the questions we get asked most often.

  • Is Align Yoga Method only for yoga teachers or people in teacher training?

Not at all! While we do offer yoga teacher trainings and continuing education credits (CECs) for instructors, Align Yoga Method is first and foremost a wellness community. Our mission is to inspire everyone—whether you’re a teacher, a seasoned practitioner, brand new to yoga, or somewhere in between—to live yoga on and off the mat.

We host classes, community events, workshops, reatreats, and festivals designed for all levels and backgrounds, because we believe yoga is for everyone.

No matter where you are in your journey, you’ll find classes, experiences, and connections here that support you in living with greater alignment, purpose, and well-being.

  • What makes Align Yoga Method different from other styles of yoga?

We focus on teaching yoga that supports your real life — functional movement, joint health, nervous system regulation, and personal empowerment.

Our method blends classical yoga roots with modern movement science to create a practice that’s sustainable and deeply healing.

  • Can I still do yoga if i'm not flexible?

Absolutely! Flexibility is not a prerequisite for yoga—it’s a result of consistent practice, not a starting point.

At Align Yoga Method, we emphasize mindful movement, functional alignment, and meeting your body exactly where it is. Whether you can touch your toes or not doesn’t matter—what matters is how it feels, not how it looks.

Yoga is for every body, and your flexibility (or lack of it) is not a limitation—it's an invitation to explore your practice with curiosity, compassion, and awareness.

  • Do you offer yoga classes?

    We will be....SOON!

The Align Yoga Method Collective Class Pass will be your all-access ticket to a variety of yoga classes at two local studios—The Healing Loft and Fit Bodies Fit Minds.

Once avaialable, purchase your pass on the Align Yoga Method website and register for classes directly through our booking system. Each class listing clearly shows the location, so you’ll always know which studio you’re headed to.

✨ 1 pass. 2 studios. So much flexibility.

This collaborative pass was created to give our community more flexibility, variety, and access to passionate, highly trained instructors—all under one system.

  • Do you offer teacher trainings?

Yes! Align Yoga Method offers 200-hour foundational yoga teacher training as well as advanced 300-hour modules in areas like sequencing and anatomy, yin and restorative yoga, meditation and breathwork, and more.

  • What style of yoga is taught in the Align Yoga Method 200-Hour Teacher Training?

The Align Yoga Method 200-hour training is rooted in Vinyasa Flow yoga, with a strong foundation in functional movement, breath-centered practice, and sustainable alignment.

We teach a mindful, intentional approach to Vinyasa that honors traditional yoga philosophy while integrating modern movement science.

Graduates are trained to teach the Align Flow — our signature, adaptable class. It serves as a flexible blueprint that can be customized to meet students at any level, offering an accessible and empowering experience for all.

  • How much experience do I need to have to take a teacher training?

You don’t need to be an expert—or even feel “ready”—to begin. Our 200-hour training is designed for students who are passionate about yoga and curious to learn more, whether your goal is to teach or simply deepen your own practice.

We recommend having at least 6 months of consistent practice, but more importantly, you should feel a genuine interest in exploring yoga beyond the poses. We’ll guide you step-by-step through alignment, anatomy, philosophy, teaching skills, and more—no advanced flexibility or prior teaching experience required.

If you’re feeling called to go deeper, you’re ready.

  • I want to learn more about yoga in general but I’m worried that I am not fit enough or flexible enough to do this and I’m not sure I want to be a teacher

Yoga is for EVERY body! There is no one body type, age, experience level necessary. Yoga embraces everyone where they are at and in whatever way they show up.

The journey starts within. Many of our students have taken the 200 YTT for their own personal growth without the intention to ever teach others.

  • What is the difference between a 200 hour and 300 hour teacher training?

The 200-hour training is the foundational certification — it’s where you learn the core skills of teaching yoga, including safe alignment, basic sequencing, breathwork, introductory anatomy, yoga philosophy, and how to lead accessible classes.

After completing a 200-hour training, you are eligible to register as a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200) with Yoga Alliance (if you choose to).

The 300-hour training is advanced education for yoga teachers who have already completed a 200-hour certification. It’s designed to deepen your knowledge and refine your teaching.

A 300-hour program explores more advanced topics such as:

    • Sequencing and Anatomy

    • Meditation & Pranayama

    • Yin & Restorative Yoga

Once you complete a 200-hour and a 300-hour training (totaling 500 hours), you can

register as an RYT 500 with Yoga Alliance.

    Simple summary:

-200-hour = Your first step. Learn how to teach yoga safely, skillfully and effectively as you learn who you are as a yoga instructor.

-300-hour = Your next level. Deepen your practice, expand your teaching, specialize, and lead with more confidence and knowledge based on your areas of personal interest.

  • Explain the 300-Hour Process

To enroll in the Align Yoga Method 300-hour advanced training, you must have previously completed a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training (from any recognized school).

Our 300-hour certification is structured into three separate 100-hour modules.

    Here’s how it works:

-You must complete all three 100-hour modules with the Align Yoga Method to receive your 300-hour certification.

-Modules can be taken in any order — there is no required sequence.

-You can take as long as you need to complete all 300 hours. There is no deadline and no pressure; you can leave any amount of time between each module based on your schedule, goals, and personal journey.

-After completing all three modules, you will be eligible to register as an RYT 500 (Registered Yoga Teacher 500-hour) if you choose to register with Yoga Alliance.

This flexible, modular approach allows you to deepen your teaching skills at your own pace while specializing in areas that resonate most with you.

  • Are Align Yoga Method Trainings In-Person or Online?

Our trainings are offered in a hybrid format to give you the best of both worlds.

    Each training includes:

-At least one weekend in person right here in Sault Ste. Marie for hands-on learning, practice, and face to face connection.

-Several weeks of live Zoom sessions for continued education, discussion, and mentorship.

-Coursework and self-paced assignments to deepen your understanding.

-Karma classes and practice teaching hours to complete your certification requirements.

This flexible structure allows you to experience the depth of in-person learning while having the convenience and accessibility of online education — all while maintaining the high standards and personal support Align Yoga Method is known for.

  • What’s a Karma class?

Karma classes are our way of giving back to the community.

Student teachers are required to provide free classes as part of their training to help them practice and gain confidence as teachers. Participants of these classes bring a donation (usually cash) which is then shared back to our community.

Some organizations that have benefitted from this are: The Sault Ste. Marie Museum, ARCH, Algoma Youth Wellness Hub.

Students can arrange to host their classes anywhere, and also have access to space at both The Healing Loft and Fit Bodies, Fit Minds.

  • What is the Cancellation Policy for Align Yoga Method trainings?

    All training payments are non-refundable.

However, if you are unable to attend, your payment can be transferred to a future training with advance notice.

We understand that life happens, and we’re happy to work with you to find a future training that fits your schedule.
